Georg Fromm's 2018 Malanser Pinot Noir Michel is a first release of this vineyard, which is kind of an extension of the Spielmann vineyard but entirely planted with Swiss clones. The soil has a higher content of clay than the Spielmann or Schöpfi vineyards have. The bouquet displays an intense, ripe and aromatic cherry aroma with red and black currant notes. Full-bodied and round on the palate, with fine tannin and good freshness, this is a fruit-intense and charming Blauburgunder with nice reduction at this stage. The wine is silky and fresh with finely extracted and well-integrated tannins yet less tension and complexity than the Fidler or, in particular, the neighboring Spielmann, which is planted with French clones. The 2018 was fermented on 10% whole clusters. 91-92 /100 (02.2020) - Wine Advocate
