The 2016 Barbaresco Gallina is gorgeous. Silky, perfumed and beautifully layered, the 2016 has much to offer. Rose petal, licorice, mint and lavender notes are nicely lifted in a silky, super-expressive Barbaresco that is going to be very hard to resist in the early going. More than anything, though, the 2016 Barbaresco is a terrific example of just how far the Oddero wines have come in the last few years. 93/100 (11.2018)

Dusty and salty mineral notes characterize this interesting expression of Nebbiolo, derived from the sandy soils for which this vineyard site is known. Specifically, the fruit for the 2016 Barbaresco Gallina comes from 1.9 hectares of southern-facing terrain that is leased from the local church. They harvested this vintage a bit earlier than their peers in order to gain in elegance as well as those distinctive mineral tones. The Oddero family says they are not looking for power or concentration in this wine, but rather delicate perfumes and the territory-specific nuances of slate and chalkboard. 92+/100 (06.2019)
