The 2019 Pinot Noir Malans Unique offers a deliciously sweet, refined and charming Pinot bouquet of red berries and crushed stones. Full-bodied, intense and energetic on the palate, this is a fascinating, pure, fresh and promising Pinot with great finesse and mineral tension. Not much flesh and hedonism here at this early stage but purity, elegance, freshness and lingering, stimulating salinity. This is another fabulous wine that is not far in quality from the 2018 but probably more intellectual. Magnum 96/100 (06.2022)
The 2019 Pinot Noir Unique opens deep, pure, spicy and intense yet refined on the elegant and polished nose that reveals crystalline terroir notes along with cherry, flint and red berry aromas. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, fresh, intense and elegant, refined and tensioned Pinot with fine but vibrantly fresh and tight tannins as well as a salty-mineral backbone that leads to a long, intense and tensioned finish with iodine notes. It's still very young, but this is an impressive, concentrated and promising Pinot. 93+/100 (03.2022)
