A classical beauty, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with dusty florals and crushed stone, giving way to crushed raspberry, hints of citrus and autumnal spice tones. Undeniably elegant and refined, this possesses the silkiest of textures, contrasted by a salty core of minerality and crisp wild berry fruit. There is simply so much energy here. It tapers off sultry, with a silty texture and a bump of residual acidity that keeps the mouth watering for more. Edgy tannins tug at the palate. I would love to revisit this glorious Brunello in another five years. 95/100 (02.2024)
Bright dark red. Floral nuances complicate the aromas of red cherry, licorice, sage and minerals on the captivating nose. Rich, dense and juicy; harmonious ripe acidity provides noteworthy clarity and cut to the steely red cherry and licorice flavors. Finishes long with rising smooth tannins and hints of licorice. Very serious, very pure Brunello in the classic, high-acid, no-frills style of the vintage. 95/100 (02.2018)
