The Milazzo – Maria Costanza Rosso was the first red wine from the Milazzo estate and, since its debut in 1991, has marked a turning point in the interpretation of Nero d’Avola, Sicily’s most important indigenous grape variety.
This wine began a deep exploration of the genetic diversity of Nero d’Avola on the island. The goal was to enhance expressions that combine depth, elegance, and authenticity through targeted clonal selection and careful adaptation to the calcareous and clay-rich soils of the Milazzo vineyards. Complemented by a precise selection of barriques—tailored to each vintage—the estate manages to reveal the full aromatic and structural potential of this grape year after year.
In the glass, the Maria Costanza Rosso shows an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose is expressive, with distinct floral notes and ripe fruit, especially sour cherry. The bouquet is completed by subtle spice nuances and hints of aromatic herbs such as nettle and fig leaf. On the palate, the wine is soft, elegant, and velvety, with remarkable length and harmonious structure.
