From vines planted in the early 1990s (diverse clones and rootstocks), fermented with at least 50% whole clusters and bottled a year ago, the 2021 Pinot Noir Magnus is sourced from the gently sloping Stellibofel and based on 30-year-old vines planted on a south-facing and slowly ripening lieu-dit at 600 meters above sea level. Fermented with at least 50% whole clusters and aged in barrels for 16-18 months, the 2021 shows a beautifully clear and fresh ruby color and delivers ripe yet perfectly elegant sour cherry aromas and indicates remarkable finesse and elegance. Silky and lush on the palate, with juicy fruit and fine, firm and spicy, even peppery tannins, this is an intense and complex, finely saline and sustainable Pinot Noir based entirely on Swiss clones. This excellent and age-worthy Pinot was only bottled in magnums and is a highlight of the vintage in the Bündner Land. 94/100 (06.2024) - Wine Advocate
