Tasting notes
The 2020 Riesling is lemon-yellow in color and precise, stony and fresh on the nose, with aromas of citrus fruits, especially lime, which combine in a classic way with the scent of gray Bündner slate. Cool and spicy on the palate, characterized by slate, this is reminiscent of Rieslings from the Mosel and Nahe (Hermannshöhle!). The 2020 is elegant yet surprisingly cool, delicate and light-footed and wonderfully mineral on the palate without being demanding. It is a quiet, subtle, weightless and heavenly Riesling with notes of broken rock. The acidity is elegant, ripe and playful but not at all racy and plays around ripe, finely juicy fruit. This is a quiet, great Riesling that is extremely long and savory, even if it is just pulling back a little. 96/100 (03.2024) - robertparker.com
Bottled only 10 days before I tasted it at the domaine at the end of March 2022, the 2020 Riesling is fascinating, pure, fresh and bright on the chalky-flinty, utterly mineral nose that reveals beautiful reduction. Round and elegant on the palate, this is an intense yet utterly pure, very long and salty Riesling with perfect ripeness, finesse and mineral tension. The 2020 is a beautiful and highly promising Gantenbein Riesling bottled with three grams per liter of residual sugar. 96/100 (06.2022) - robertparker.com
