Tasting notes
The 2019 Chardonnay opens intense yet refined and elegant on the nose, with flinty notes underlining the perfectly ripe fruit that is as precisely pictured as a Dürer etching. It is fascinating how the coolish calcareous slate terroir of Fläsch and Malans interplays with the richness and ripeness of the fruit as well as the choice of the barrels. This is also a perfect match on the palate, which is rich and complex as well as elegant and even refined, leading to a salivating finish that reveals lemon bitters, mineral freshness, fine tannins and a long, abnormally complex finish. 98/100 (03.2024) - robertparker.com
The 2019 Chardonnay is pure and intense on the deep, complex, elegant and refreshing mineral nose that is reminiscent of lemon oil and crushed stones. Full-bodied, refined and lush on the palate, this is a very elegant, textural and saline Chardonnay with fine tannins and a long, intense and close-meshed finish. Another highlight of the Gantebein Chardonnay Saga. 96/100 (06.2022) - robertparker.com
