Tasting notes
The 2011 Barbaresco Rabajà is rich, deep and fleshy, all qualities that will allow it to drink beautifully relatively early. Bright red berries, flowers, cinnamon and sweet tobacco are all woven together in an effortless, ample Barbaresco built on texture. A firm spine of tannin runs through the fruit, but overall, this is a fairly accessible, young Rabajà from Cortese. In 2011, the flavors are quite bright and red-toned, as opposed to other vintages where the Rabajà has been darker and more balsamic in profile. In 2011 Piercarlo Cortese gave the 2011 a little less time in oak and also favored older casks, both choices made to preserve as much freshness as possible. Cortese fans can also look forward to a Riserva in 2011. 93/100 (07.2014) - vinous.com
