To produce Milazzo’s most prized white wine, specific Chardonnay clones with distinct oenological profiles have been carefully selected over time. These are characterized by very small berries and an extremely low yield per vine, further reduced through manual thinning. All grapes come from the oldest vineyards in the Milici cru. The must is first fermented in stainless steel tanks, then transferred into a combination of new and used barriques, where fermentation finishes and the wine is refined for 12 months. This process helps preserve and enhance the grape’s aromatic precursors. During maturation, the wine remains on its lees and is regularly stirred through bâtonnage.
The Milazzo Chardonnay Selezione di Famiglia 2019 presents a pale yellow color with greenish highlights. On the nose, it shows mineral notes with hints of flint, tropical fruit, fig flesh, and candied citrus. Subtle and intriguing touches of vanilla and thiols add further complexity. On the palate, it is elegant, full-bodied, and persistent, with pronounced balance and freshness that give it excellent aging potential.
