The 2013 Barolo San Giovanni sees fruit fermented in stainless steel. The wine is later aged in French barrique for two years (with 50% new oak). This wine comes together with beautiful precision and focus. Dark cherry nuances meld into dried herb, tar, pressed rose and campfire ash. 95/100 (04.2018)

The 2013 Barolo San Giovanni is a beautiful wine, but readers will have to give it at least a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften. Black cherry, tobacco, cedar, licorice, menthol and a kiss of new French oak run through this dark, inviting Monforte Barolo. 93/100 (11.2016)
