From a cool and rainy vintage that caused a late ripeness after the early 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages, the 2021 Pinot Noir Vom Pfaffen/Calander is clear, pure and fresh on the nose that is spicy and clearly characterized by the cool vintage. Redcurrant and leafy/forest notes with nettle aromas on the nose lead to a juicy, very elegant and intense Pinot with power and concentration and a long, intense and tensioned finish with enormous thrust and character. This is a spectacular cool-climate and bad-weather Pinot that will develop beautifully over the coming 5-15 years. 94/100 (06.2024) - robertparker.com
