A pure expression of Sangiovese, the 2013 Percarlo is a plump and succulent wine. To my palate, it shows almost too much ripeness, and this comes as a surprise given the moderate and often cooler conditions of the 2013 growing season. The wine shows a seriously dark and impenetrable appearance with soft aromas of blackberry jam, spice and cherry liqueur. The alcohol here is measured at 14% and you feel it all.
