The 2008 de Fieuzal has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, gravel and cedar aromas, quite energetic after a decade with satisfying delineation. The oak here is very well enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, clean and poised with well judged acidity. It is not the most complex Bordeaux on the block and it would benefit from a little more fleshiness towards the finish. However, there is tension and energy in situ and it should drink well for another seven or eight years. 90/100 (03.2018)

Bright red-ruby. Aromas and flavors of cassis, licorice, graphite and spicecake, accented by a menthol nuance. Dense, pliant and ripe, but with a solid mineral underpinning giving the wine excellent spine and structure. A dry and classic 2008: I'd give it four or five years in the cellar. 90/100 (07.2011)

Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. The de Fieuzal 2008 has an ephemeral bouquet that wafts from the glass, nice purity with blackberry, truffle oil and raspberry fruits, but it needs more vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins on the entry. Well made with a very pure finish, although there is something a little predictable about it. Still, this is technically a very sound Pessac though not one to enflame the emotions. 90/100 (05.2012)

This has a fresh, fragrant nose with touches of rose petal inflecting the fresh raspberry and wild strawberry fruit. Good definition here. The palate is medium-bodied with a savoury entry, the tannins just a little furry and ill-defined at the moment, but there is great depth with a lovely meat finish (as if there is more Cabernet Franc in the wine.) A little brutish at the moment but it should mellow with 4-5 years bottle age. 90+/100 (06.2011)
